Delightful Daffodils!
The daffodils have really been putting on a show the last few weeks. I’ve been trying to capture their unique looks in pictures and in bouquets. If you’d like to indulge in some lemony, golden, and peach displays of delightful daffodils look no further!
Flowers Near and Far
Last week was my kids’ spring break. We were lucky enough to get seats on a standby flight out to San Diego. We had a great time in sunny San Diego and enjoyed a few lovely flower-filled hikes while we were there. Here are some pics of flowers far (San Diego) and near (home in Kalamazoo).

Marching Into Spring
Happy March! The month is starting off on a warm note, which is making the garden wake up earlier than normal. It’s nice to see a little color return!
Great Book Alert! ALA Edition
In January the American Library Association (ALA) held it’s annual winter conference and gave out the big book awards- Caldecott, Newbery, etc.. (Here’s more about all the award winners if you’d like to see.)
And related, two awesome lists were recently released by the American Library Association.
Half Way to Spring
Yesterday was the halfway point to Spring- hooray! I have a walking route through my neighborhood I like to do, but this morning I added an extra loop through the local nature preserve (Kleinstuck). As much as I’m looking forward to spring, the way the light was hitting the frozen landscape made me appreciate the freezing temps.
New Books in Great Series
Every so often Charlie has me search to see if new installments of his favorite graphic novel series have come out. We’re always thrilled when one has, or is just on the horizon. It can be even more exciting spotting one unexpectedly on the library or book store shelf! Here are the newest books in 14 awesome graphic novel and illustrated chapter book series. Easy Reading Games
I’ve been tutoring elementary kids in reading for a few years (with almost one year of that being tutoring using an Orton-Gillingham curriculum through a local reading center called SLD Read).
